Any updates? Hows it working out?
U have me very interested in getting a wolf now lol
Been the same as the day I added him and made this thread.....
He's been putting on some size, training during the night, watching his diet and eating his vitamins so that maybe one day he can shred all my rays and destroy the entire tank.....
In all honesty the wolf has got to be sick of the rays rolling him around, pouncing on him, and just getting all up in his business.
I have 3 Lemon fin barbs in with him. The biggest well over twice the wolf's size. The big barb and the wolf go rounds. The wolf gets a little damage now and then but the barb gets the brunt of it.
So naturally I assume he's just a big ol puddy tat and made the mistake of retrieving a loose plant from the overflow screen. VERY close call. Despite him being tolerant of tank mates that definetly doesn't mean it's tolerant of me. He missed by inches.
I got back from being at school for a week and walk into the house to see a beat to crap dead fish in the tank. I freaked. My new wolf. Lost it and began a fit of rage. Enlightened my girl (who babysat the fish) that I'd never leave for more then a couple days ever again. Was so mad I just left on a drive rather than scream at her. A half hour later she calls and says I need to get home asap. I got home and the dead fish was sitting on the steps in a bag. She told me I needed to look at it. I did. It was a catfish with bitemarks all over it. I had forgotten all about the catfish in there (a bumblebee the same size as the wolf). My girl felt horrible and went to go net the presumed Aimara out and the Aimara shot out of the catfish's hiding spot and tried to destroy the net. Talk about relief. Needless to say this guy had a lot of apologizing to do.
They definetly need to be handled with caution. I am used to my eel tank where NOTHING goes into that tank without a spotter (someone constantly monitoring the eels). The eels will break the water's surface and attack anything they can. The Aimara is no different. Siphons, nets, pvc will all be attacked within seconds upon entering the water. It's hard to get used to exercising this caution as I've kept many predatory FW fish and never had one that did not fear my hand. Even a 14" Armatus was able to be handfed.
I have only seen such personality in rays and puffers. My wolf is like a angry puffer. Walk into the room and he will meet you in the middle of the tank to see what's shaking. Always alert to what's going on, always investigating.
Defiently one of if not the neatest fish I've ever had.
