BlueDempsey was talking about this gadget you can hook up to an air pump so that it pushes out air with more force? You should ask him about it, it looked kind of neat..
I'm using a HIblow 80 with 3 feet of airstones and it makes a lot of circulation. Almost too much, as at feeding time the shrimp doesn't stay on the bottom for long for the rays to get to.
It does get the crap up off of the bottom and into the filters, though, so the filters are more efficient with the air pump. And the rays seem to like to play in the bubbles.
my airpump failed a couple of days ago and my 3 biggest fish RIP by morning. I have 2 cannister filters on the tank but as my partner does not like the splashing noise the spraybars are under the water surface.
it could have bean the airstones that got clogged but unless you are usng an undergravel filer you don't need air pumps the bubbles don't really add any o2 to the tanrk only the movement of the water
so why add a bubbler to bait buckets?
water movement sure isnt whats keeping 2 dozen fish alive in a bucket.

HAHAHAH
I use a Aqua Culture 20-60 gallon/double outlet pump. It is pretty quiet with sound, its not like a jackahmmer, I would say that my regular filter is louder than the airator. I have it with one wand thingy lieing down in one side at one corner in the back, and another round stone just sitting in the other back corner. The wand is covered under rocks and the stone is just there, but it has lots of bubbles so I cant notice the tube going to it. Theres lots-o-stuff in the tank so I wouldn't want to be with out it.
ha!
bet ya got it at walmart right?
i got 2 of them
one runs 2 bubblers in my 240g
and the other one pumps air into a 55g and a 90g
those 10 buck double pumps are great
