You may have some good advice, but the way you go about giving it is completely uncalled for.I screwed up and put this stuff in my tank. That was a mistake. That still doesn't mean that Algae Destroyer doesn't kill fish.If you don't believe me put it in your "perfect" tank and see what happens.

You may have learned some good lessons, but the way you go about blaming the chemical is completely uncalled for. You screwed up and put this stuff in your tank, without doing any research. That was a mistake. That still dosn't mean that Algae destroyer killed your fish. If you don't believe me, dose it properly in a healthy tank and see what happens.

I have used this product before, no problems. Back when I was more of a novice fish keeper and hardly did any water changes, and relied on chemicals to fix my problems. Whenever a chemical didn't do what it claimed, I bashed it and told everyone that it was the chemicals fault, and not mine. Sounds ironic, eh?

I recommend this product at my work all the time, to individuals who have poor husbandry practices and look to chemicals for quick fixes. I have only had 1 customer have a die off in fish because of it, and he had an extremely bad green water algae bloom, and his nitrates were through the roof, because.. of... lack of water changes... ?

So like I said before.. It's just as much your fault as much as it is the chemicals fault. It pisses me off beyond no end when people blame errors on chemicals. A healthy tank should never need chems like these.

It was dosed properly into a healthy tank. That is why I know it kills fish.I do 50% water changes weekly, along with gravel vacs.I have a test kit and use it.I know that my tank is healthy.I take care of my fish to the absolute best of my knowledge and ability. The only problem I have had is algae blooms on this one tank. You couldn't convince me to use Algae Destroyer again period. That is my lesson learned.Like I said if you don't believe it kills fish, then you use it,but I won't.

BTW..

The Algae bloom is likely the combination of increased phosphates in the water, due to spring run-off in your tap. Combine that with increased ambient lighting and increased spring day-light hours, and you get.. Green water algae!

Also, check your type of lighting and the kelvin amount on it.. Add improper lumens, spectrum, of kelvins into the equation, and it will fuel the fire.

Too bad you didn't know all of this before hand. :(

Good Luck, bro.

i used that stuff in my planted 46 gal and had no problems with it that i know of. to me my plants slowed down in growing but im crazy so who knows lol

My friends have lost fish because of that stuff. I use algaefix an that I use sparingly to be safe.

oh no! there is no doubt that it was the algae killer! algae killers need to be pretty potent to kill such a tough organism and if not administered correctly death is pretty easy!
