Or go to Walmart and buy the 8ft pool.

Yes sir, then you can swim with your fish.

But for real buy a new heater or if you go with a pool, you'll need a couple, eheim jager 300watt at petmountain.com will suffice

Yes I've looked into the pond liner but I've heard their fins on the side have caused holes in very rare cases. Also filtration I'm using is a canister I believe it's a Rena x3 or something of that nature, also a 55 HOB filter on the opposite side, 2- 14" bubble bars.

Double the liner if your worried. Or make a barrier with soaked cinder blocks. As for the bottom you could make up something. Like I did

Why do people insist on getting RTC's? Their sale should be forbidden.

It can feed its whole life on pellets. Do not over feed it.

Try a "inline" heater that hooks on you rena, that way its not in the tank!

I agree.. 6 monthes isn't going to last at his current size. I would look into a rubbermaid large animal trough. their 150 or 300 gallon one should work until you move and can build bigger ( imo the 300 is worth the extra few bucks and will give you more wiggle room) I understand completely about houseing/upgradeing ect as you go. Just make sure you do what you say/need to do.

as for his actions... is the pleco possibly trying to attack him? Ive had many a pleco that started slime coat sucking.. and if your RTCs suddenly like a bull in a china shop the pleco may be trying to suck on him. but i agree its also liekly hes bored/feeling cramped.

Make sure to check your water perameters... imo sounds like your filtration may be abit on the low side, depending how its set up. ammonia ect can cause fish to act funny too.

Hard problem to analyze.

Good advising above. Filtration may be a bit light, indeed; little of any safety margin too but it heavily depends on the media - porous ceramic rings or lava rock - the surface area is 1000 times different.

300 gal Rubbermade tub is only about $250 and is an excellent choice here. Vinyl and thin PVC liners are easily punctured. The standard 45 mil pond rubber liner or 20 mil PVC walk-in shower liner are far better.

IMO, fish don't get bored. They are driven by instincts.

Yes. Water parameters and what kit is used? Water clarity is irrelevant here.

The temp is a bit too high. I'd not go above 82 F. 76-78 F is fine IMO.

I dont think light has much to do with it.

Check for external parasites too. Slime too thick (cloudy looking) or coming off?
