Alligator caught in Minnesota

gold fish and cats are more commonly set free and do a lot of environmental damage. one or two alligators are'nt going to do anything and yes it is sad that a hand full of alligators die every few years its not like the species is in danger of going extinct.

The problem also docent stem from the animal it stems from the people that get them. If they can't buy an alligator they will just buy something else that they probably shouldn't have.

So it's okay to dumping alligators and let them suffering from frostbitten and coldness? That is most cruel that you could do to the alligators. People like you is the reason why the people don't care about the animal welfare and why the exotic animals laws are enforced. It seems that alligator dumpings are more common in recent years, especially in Twin Cities areas.

it's not okay to dump alligators and let them suffer.

most exotic animal laws have no protection for the individual animal but instead the laws are designed to protect a species.so there is wether the exotic is in a good home or not docent matter the animal will be euthanized.

the reason they seem to be the most common in recent years is because every single one ends up on the news. if all the red eared sliders were reported on I would be in the news ones or twice a year. I catch the occasional RES in the lake by my house I bring them to my buddy who has a turtle pond in his basement.

by no means am I justifying the peoples actions, pets just aren't for everyone.

Why did I read this whole thread thinking it was Alligator Gar.

lol, i am in south Africa on my school camp they had to shoot a Croc that wound up in the lake on site, about 6-7ft long. They originate from the other end of the country. its confusing

when you say "they originate from the other end of the country" are you talking about your crocs or our Minnesotan alligator?

I was going to respond to his post a few hours ago with a theory that I came up with....I think he is referring to one of his native crocodiles.

Native crocs originate on the eastern part of south africa. In the western area where i live they are rare

Are there waterways that connect the two regions that the croc could have followed?
