Alligator drags Toddler in water at Disney Resort

In Wal-Mart today there were two examples of "off duty " parents. One kid was riding a bicycle inside the store on the side of the store away from the bicycles.

I heard another child wel before seeing her. She was screaming every few moments. Could be heard all over the store. I eventually passed them. A little girl, around four or five. A smaller child in the buggy. As I passed, the girl began to scream (for no apparent reason). The parents just went on with their casual shopping.

These are not rare events.

Is Disney likely to have to pay compensation? YES! Will the compensation in any way be worth losing a child? Absolutly not to my mind!

To some extent I get the notion that a Disney resort can be preceived to be a safe area.

I guess one of the only positive things is that others may have learned a valuable lesson from this tragic event.

Why? because it's the truth?

2 parents, 1 kid, wading in ankle deep water, Father fought with the gator and lost ?.......in water they weren't supposed to be in, so the kid was following Dad's irresponsible example

and teaching his kid the rules don't apply to them also

They had TWO kids, on a resort where emplyees expressed their consern about the gators and at an event set up by disney to watch movies on a beach at NIGHT where these gators were known to frequent. At this event their were MANY families with their CHILDREN again on a beach at NIGHT watching a movie and palying in the pools AT NIGHT where GATORS were known to STAFF and MGMT to frequent. ...get where this is going

Ok, now think for a second why no one was alarmed for it.

Gator don't have a reputation for attacking people. It really just doesn't happen often, and it certainly has NEVER happened on land. I think Staff knew that nd there were no prior incidents because gators are out of their element on land. Why worry about an incident that until now has never happened.

Now consider how irresponsible taking a 2 year old child in the water at night with out a PFD in a place marked with signs "No Swimming" really is.

A few of my neighbors who do have kids each think the parents were retarded.

The important thing to take home from all of this is they DON'T ATTACK ON LAND

The story I heard was the kid ran off during a movie, if thats not true it kind of changes things. I only followed the initial story

This is what I heard as well, that the family were watching a movie and the child wandered off.Alligator or not there is plenty of water around for a child to wade into and drown on his own in the dark of night....especially when the parents allowed it.

Wife said she read in seperate stories the fsther was woth him and in another both were with him....who knows

I wonder if there are security cameras that could have captured the incident?
