Well we are blessed with a lot of amphibian species in PA but reptiles not as much. The reptile species I've seen here in South Central PA over the years were Eastern Box Turtles, Wood Turtles, Spotted Turtles, Bog Turtles, Eastern & Midland Painted Turtles, Snapping Turtles, Musk Turtles, Map Turtles, Five-lined Skinks, Common Garter Snakes, Eastern Ribbon Snakes, Northern Water Snakes, Eastern Milk Snakes, Black Rat Snakes, Brown Snakes, Rough Green Snakes, Northern Ring-neck Snakes, Timber Rattlesnakes and Northern Copperheads.

Are you familiar with Kings Gap State Park? It's out side of Carlisle near you. Drive to the top of that mountain and stop at the mansion. Just walk around the stone walls on a sunny day during the summer and you will see Five-lined skinks, Black Rat Snakes and Copperheads.

hmmm, didnt know of it. will have to go check it out! thanks!! im interested in procureing the milk snakes!! lol. Heard of a small snake similar to milk snake but lives underground. what species?

First time I ever saw one I was a little freaked out because the person's hand who was holding it was all bloody. Mean and nasty little things (guess they just don't want to be caught). But now that I own one, I think that they make a much better pet than fence lizards. A lot more personality (at least this one).

Nice pic they even look like biters lol.

Are they active in the terrarium? I imagine one per enclosure only.

He seems pretty lazy, and just lounges all day. Yeah, my mom freaks when I bring him out, says that it looks evil. lol

When I lived back in sonoma cnty,ca w/ my parents we used to catch fence/blue belly lizards, alligator lizards, blue tailed skinks, fire belly newts, garter snakes, gopher snakes, ringneck snakes and the elusive ca king snake. We would leave the rattlesnakes alone.

. every time i see one i use my airsoft gun or a shovel to kill them. ... who likes alligator lizards?

I have to say you suck.

As pointed out, alligator lizards are great at keeping down all sorts of nasty insects (crickets. roaches). I have them, along with fence lizards all over my yard. It's always a treat for me to see one.
