Alligator News

I was curious of the size of the biggest prehistoric alligator that ever lived. Apparently it was called Deinosuchus, and unsurprisingly was a little bigger than it's modern day cousins.

Meet Deinosuchus, in comparison to a Tyrannosaurus Rex and a sweet little lady!

I think I'd prefer the Jehovah's Witnesses knocking on my door over this chap! Yikes!

More crocodile news, slightly out of date LOL but still interesting.
Poor crocs, that massacre may affect the conservation efforts for the species there.

It's absolutely frightening the sheer size of prehistoric animals. Humans really should thank their lucky stars that there's millions of years between our time on earth and theirs!

Indeed,I'm still amazed that such creatures once ruled the planet.

We don't have crocs or alligators in the UK but according to this old news report I stumbled upon, we still had SEVEN reported attacks by the creatures! Obviously these were attacks inflicted by pets and not wild animals roaming free, though some could have been caused whilst the victims were abroad too, the NHS report is unclear on this. It just reports that they treated the victims in the UK.

If you read the report it also goes onto state that a host of other animals were also responsible for numerous attacks, bites or stings.

And then near the bottom it states that the biggest culprit for attacks is our own "man's best friend", the dog!! I don't think those particular dogs got the memo!

Yes, that's right. There was a documentary a couple of years ago if I remember rightly. It is believed they came on ships of masonry from Italy donkeys years ago.

There is a little island just off the southern coast of the UK called the isle of Sheppy. That's where all the ships of old used to dock.

The scorpions are still isolated around the dock area I believe, the last I heard they haven't moved onto the mainland yet. Apparently they are thriving.

Years ago I watched one of David Attenborough's documentaries in which he talked a bit about them.I vaguely recall one scene which had him in some town and he was finding small specimens underneath stones along a railroad.
