Would a cleaned out, boiled aluminum can be any sort of harmful in a fish tank? I had some beer cans that were camouflage and i thought a great way to enjoy them after i emptied them, would be to use them as decoration in the tank?

What do you think?

it's the pattern on the can that i like, i'm not much for drinking bottles anyways lol

i've cut the top out of one can and bent it over to avoid the sharp edges, then took another and cut it in a spiral, and slightly folded over the edges again to keep the sharp edges from being an issue

thanks for your opinion, however i'm looking for better information like, is there any chemical in an aluminum can that will leach out and kill my fish or things of that nature, i've got my super natural tanks set up, i'm going for something a little different this time around.

if u cut the can for them to hide in it will leave sharp edges! and yes there will be chemicals still in there that will leak out in time.

i folded over all the sharp edges, as stated before, so that all edges are rounded off, I'm no genius, but i did cover the idea of not slicing my fish up.

I doubt it would harm the fish.It takes a loooooong time for aluminum to erode.Just make sure it is aluminum and not tin.if a magnet sticks to it-it will rust.

One thing that may be a concern is you dont know what type of chemical and/or paint the original company uses to mark/paint the can.
