Aluminum Cans as Decoration??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think shotgun shell casings might look cool with what you have in there, not the metal part, but the plastic parts. It would match your hunting theme :) Do they make plastic duck calls? I think that's what they are, I'm thinking of that black plastic tube thing, right?

I considered shotgun shells, but I know for a fact they rust at a very high rate, like less than a week, from personal experience. I know that cans don't rust that fast, so i thought I'd give it a try. It isn't like I set the tank up and won't look at it again. If I start to see any signs of rust, I'll obviously take the cans out.

A duck call would be interesting, however I'd be more apt to keep the duck call and use it, before i put it in my fish tank! lol I also have never been a big fan of having things in my tank just for "decoration" I can't really see any fish using a duck call for a hiding place or anything, as they're generally so small. At least with the cans and decoy and antlers, they can actually hide inside of them and such. But that is all personal preference. I just wanted to try something different that I haven't seen before.

Well, you must like some decorations, or you wouldn't have put the cans in there to begin with. There are easier things to use as caves ;) Either way I like the idea :)

well of course there are easier things! i've got pvc in one tank, and slate caves and flowerpots and such, but i figured that i was going to drink the beer anyways, i might as well put the can to good use too! lol but thanks for the input! it's appreciated!:)

I know of short hand that aluminum can's put in a river will rust even thow they are aluminum and they shouldn't they do. so i don't think it would be a good idea in that that is the fact. i wouldn't risk it and seems as the mental picture in my head even bending the ends over won't gash you'r fish but they still can drag a fin over the bent peice and hurt them selfs that way either way good luck.

Hmm i still think some road work toys would be awsome =]] A big crane and a load of workers =D Also some old unused phones would be very cool...Very risky LOL
