Am I the only one who has no friends or family who keep fish as a hobby? I don't even have any friends or family who have a fish tank.

It kinda sucks, because I would like to have someone to share this hobby with other than people on this site (not meaning I don't enjoy the site).

Am I the only one?

im one of them. and to make it worse..........
all my family tells me its a waste of time and money. lol

i just laughed..........

Same here dude! No one that I knew had any or any interst, or so I thought. When I started talking to my friends about my tanks, all of a sudden they started coming out of the wood work. Mostly, from earlier in the lives, stuff their parents kept, etc. The more you talk about it, the more you will here about it. Remember 6 degrees of seperation works for fish keepers aswell!

I was the only one initally. None of my family is in it, but as a result of my fishkeeping, a few of my friends now enjoy it and got smaller setups, due to me giving them away some of my convict fry as well as my frequent stops to the fish store of which I always drag someone along to. Now the next thing to do is make them upgrade to monster tanks :naughty:, which won't be too hard bc i know i have at least one of them hooked for good.

same here. i was the only one for a long time till i gave my roommate the bug now he's got a 55g and always in my room watching my 125 or my monsters out in the living room. can u beleive this? i just picked a free 150g full setup with fish and my family and friends say i'm nuts for doing it. IT'S FREAKING FREE!

guilty as charged! hey what can i say, we are a special breed of humans :)

Only one. Well, other family members have little betta jars or 3 gallon cirtter cages as 'tanks'. I guess no-one knows whats right.

Ah, I made a thread exactly like this a while ago.

I know just how you feel man...nobody I know keeps fish, or any other animal for that matter. One has a dog, but whatever...I wish I knew people to whom I could talk to about fish.

had exactly the same problem downunder, lucky got a supportive wife.......eventually attended the local cichlid group and was happy to find a few like minded people, who just love their fish and a great resource. Check your lfs, if they are any good they will steer you the right direction. There are lots of us out there, I hate the term networking... it does however work.

For those who can not accept your past time, either suggest that they go forth and multiply or give their kids a two foot tank and watch them become addicted
