Am I the only one?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have one other person who enjoys the fish keeping hobby. However, we have totally different tastes. He enjoys keeping salt water tanks and due to his influence I have one saltwater tank. However, I've kept Oscars and other cichlids and would rather do so. In fact, this guy is talking about the possibility of giving me a 100 gallon tank.

I have one friend now who's almost convinced that he would like a 55 gallon tank. He would have a tank if he wasn't in an apartment. There are just too many apartments who do not allow tanks around here and he's not to the point where he would argue with the landlord about that rule.

i've gotten some younger people in my family into it, but it hasen't really stuck, this hobby takes a good amount of cash if you go far into it, as with most hobby's. nobody else in my circle of people keeps fish, all i ever here from the room behind me is guess how much he just spent on this fish or that fish kind of stuff, while they go out and by expensive purses with my money:screwy:

All my fish are my friends....

the humans will be sorry!!!

Naah, seriously got a few buddies that keep em.

Same here.I joined an online club(nycichlids.com) that meets twice a year for auctions and a few trips to wholesalers.I run into some of the guys at other club auctions I go to and its always fun to talk to others whose obsession is as big or bigger than mine.If theres a local club near you go to a few meetings and check it out, closest reg club is 120 miles from me.
I love the auctions get rid of extra fry and hang in a room full of people willing to buy fish for 5-10 hours straight! lol

hehe you have no idea.

I live so far out in BFE its ridiculous.

I am about 85% sure my 250 is the biggest tank for at least 100 miles around me.

I posted a 12" clown knife, a 7" ornate bichir, a 12" and a 9" tinfoil barb, a 6" GG and a male severum about 6" all for $50 and COULD FIND NO BUYERS!!!!

thats when you really know your on your own, when you can't even find someone to allow to rip you off.

i got my brother in law hooked now it doesn't seem so bad because we are trying to outdo each other and the sisters just sit and laugh at us staring to get my son hooked

:headbang2 thats me too don't feel bad, when i met my brotha from anotha motha he and i were exactaly alike but didn't grow up around each other. he got his girlfriends kid a 20 gal and started learning how to do all the stuff...i told him to be careful cause it's very addictive and you'll be like a crack addict. then three months later i went to his house and he had 2x55gal 2x20gal all of the decorated differently and diff lighting schemes...i asked him what happened he looked at me and said "what?, they're for the boys." then we both just bust out laughing. so now i'm not alone b*****!!!!:D

guilty as charged! hey what can i say, we are a special breed of humans :)

This is for true. I've been doing this for what seems like eternity and some still think "it's just another phase he's going through". Awful long phase.

likewise, no one i know has fish anymore, they say it is a waste of money and my cheap family no way,one of my brothers got in it for a bit but he would only turn the light on when he was feeding then shut it off immediately his fish were always scared, made me sick. I won't even bring it up in conversation they all make me sick with how much they adore and worship their houses.
