i know lots of other people who love kids to death but dont want them. and i can easily see why. people with kids will disagree with me here, but ive heard alot of accounts of people who dont like their kids after they have say that its game over afterwards.

plus they are a huge responsibility.

in my case, to boil it down, im still going to try to get my apples and my oranges in the same basket.

that is true Lizz, of course and unfortunately...but then that tends to be the case in pathological situations. I was referring to "normal" situations...

( would like to add, however, that most of you guys are in your late teens/late twenties/ early thirties; would love all of us reopening this thread in ten years time. And I would bet heavily on the outcome )

miguel,
what you say is sooooo true. i know many, many people who would do anything to have kids!
i have two family members who cant ( ages 41 & 43 ) and the 43 year old lost her new husband for it. he said he was 45 and did not have time to waste with a barren woman.the 41 year old has spent 13,000 so far at fertility clinics.i went to a christmas party last year and the woman seated next to me spilled her guts-she said she was 43 and could not get pregnant and her new hubby ( who already had kids ) said he would not spend any more money on it,he could care less about it. the woman started crying and when i told her to go in debt if she had to,do whatever it takes,if it was her hearts desire. her hubby glared at me and was nasty to me the rest of the night! i was like: wtf? should i tell her yeah,it costs too much, give it up,nobody wants kids anyway, dont you know they smell ? dayummmm....

so dont have them if you dont want to...i truly understand.
but i will say this, too,on top of all my complaining: there is nothing in the world better than to have raised just one- beautiful, healthy, happy child! it is soooo worth it! it is the hardest and the best thing you will ever do!
(still waiting for them beautiful, healthy, happy teens to get the heck out of my house )

This is bordering on bringing up my other view on kids (and pregnancy in general), which can not be discussed here. It's time that I close this thread.
