Look to Australia... or Southeast Asia...

Some of the colubrids and pythons are more beautiful than any elapid and viper.

Its the same reason people buy a porsche rather than a jetta they both have four wheels but one is alot cooler

Except porsches aren't poisonous. Good analogy though.

Ah, but the speeds a Porsche can reach, plus the structural differences between the two in a head-on collision makes the Porsche a lot more deadly than a Jetta in the hands of someone who is careless and doesn't have correct handling experience.

It wouldnt make a difference anyway, JETTA or PORSCHE having a 75mph head on crash.. same result xD your as good as dead..

IMO, those are crap cars.. BUY a NISSAN GTR instead! worth every penny ^^

I do like the looks of the Gaboon Viper, but way too venomous for my experience level.

Was that a Blood Python in the middle pic? Bad picture.

Plus the rear-mounted engine makes them fishtail very easily.

Okay, back on topic now!!!!! The main reason venomous snakes get a bad rep. in captivity is because not everyone should keep them. If I were to keep any venomous snake it would have to be an eyelash viper.

gotcha.
Man, why do all the really pretty ones have to be deadly. I think people should start selectively breeding, or hybridizing them to have less potent, or no venom at all naturally.
We breed dogs to have natural bob tails
cats to have flopped ears.
Why not incredibly colorful and unique snakes that have the characteristics of a deadly venomous snake, but are no more harmful than milk snakes?

Because these animals natural defense is venom..thats why.

It would be a very selfish thing to do.

lets not go crazy! lol

Gaboons as docile... I dunno, I mean they are no puff adder but they are unpredictable, like any snake. They sure aren't docile enough to do that with. The damage this species is capable of is also a factor in why it's a great idea not to put yourself at unnecessary risk from being bitten. Who knows, maybe it's a replica or stuffed gaboon lol.
