American Eel

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Here's Sushi... Tried measuring as best I could; looks less that I originally thought. Around 38" (best guess) is what I'm coming up with. Very social animal that enjoys being pet and eats from my hand. Unlike many others, mine doesn't hide much but I handle him often so that might help. The LMB (Buckles) in the pic also enjoys being pet and is a really cool animal. I'll get some better pictures; this is from my iPhone (junk). I have a GoPro that I will be submerging next feeding to get some LMB action shots.

Ignore the tank. I just finished changing the water so it was a little stirred up. Some day I will remove the blue paint from the back... bought it like that. :/

Sweet shot, your eel is looking great, and the tank looks fine. Looks clean to me!

Thanks. I do try to keep it clean.. I'm looking to hide the filter intakes either in a background, or something natural looking. The eel is awfully destructive and I'm constantly putting things back together.. Would really like to run them all through the log or something. I suppose that will be easier when I start the new tank. I'm hoping to get started this summer unless I find something in 72" length that is 300+ gallons and I can just buy it. :/

Anyone have any leads yet? Really want one asap

I know that this is repetative, but I need one of these fish for our live fish collection here at UWSP.

If anyone has access to these legally, please let me know.

I am also looking for anyone on here who has them to comment on the experience...so anything american eel related can go here.

We really want this fish for a 8'x4'x2' aquarium we are building now to hold large coldwater oddballs.
i can catch you one

Someday I'd love to see an American eel in Minnesota. They are also rare around here....You have better chances to find a monster trophy tiger trout in Minnesota than an eel :(

were would i go for tiger trout because i am feeling lucky
