AMONIA?????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ok instead of omg the fish way to much how about dude this is what you should do I have way less than alot of people here and no1 tends to rip them appart

Ah, don't worry, anybody that keeps extremely over-stocked tanks gets flamed sooner or later. You guys that keep RTC's seem to get it the worst. It's just that many of us that have been keeping fish for years see too many people keep them that shouldn't. I personally feel that anyone that can't turn a swimming pool into a fish tank has no business keeping a fish that can hit 5' in length. I don't see the point an trashing someone for their poor choices though. I think it's best to try and inform and educate others. I hope I've been helpful to you.

I would do Crushed Coral in one filter. Probably like this

Scrubbies
Crushed Coral
Scrubbies

Try that.

BE CAREFUL ADDING CRUSHED CORAL. IT WILL BRING UP YOUR PH SKY HIGH IF TO MUCH IS ADDED.

Any one agree with the layout?

yes I just spoke to mike at h2o here in nyc and he said to just use all ceramic bio media in all three trays in the fx's and not to use any amonia remover and doe a water change

Adding anything that increases the pH at this point is a very bad idea. Yes, crushed coral will help stabilize the pH, but ammonia increases in toxicity as pH increases. So, in summation, adding a substance that increases pH along with his elevated ammonia levels and higher tank temps, is a recipe for disaster.

I think I'm going to just add more ceramic bio max to all the filter trays and stick wih no amonia remover and just a little carbom and do a massive water change

Sounds like a plan...With the massive waterchanges you might wanna leave the temp up. My experience is BB grows faster in 80+ temps. With less Ammonia in the water, the higher temps shouldn't be an issue...

hym well we'll see after tonight as soon as I get home I am doing 50% water change and adding more ceramic bios to the filters to see hopefully will go well
