I think I had the largest pair my male Odin at slightly over 12 inches and Frigga my female at slightly over 9. Just recently sold my male and am trying to sell my female. It's too bad that your not closer I was selling the pair for $110 and they where proven numerous times and because of their size the spawns where pretty large. I never had a group of Lyonsi, but in a cichlid comm. my male was not overly aggressive. Essentially he was only aggressive when challenged and even then he essentially made short work of them, but never gave chase after they tried to beat a hasty retreat.

That's an incredible pair, Koltsix! It looks like I will have to remove my Cutteri from my Lyonsi pair. The female Lyonsi will be ready to breed soon and the Cutteri are constantly courting her and fighting each other for breeding rights. The male Lyonsi is still her chosen mate but I don't want any accidental Cutteri x Lyonsi hybrids. Funny, never considered this as a potential problem when building this stock. I thought I'd share this experience with the OP.
Lost interest in this idea shortly after I thought of doing it. I have learned I can receive air cargo at my local airport and that has made me take interest in this again. I'm pretty sure I am gonna grab several smaller ones and put them in my community tank. Its good to hear they aren't overly aggressive like Amphilophus can be. Last thing I want to wake up to is a tank full of dead fish.
Lyonsi are such a beautiful species. I grew my pair to 10-11" over 4 or 5 years, they were pretty mild mannered and no problem at all. My pair didnt really show any interest in each other until they were over 9". Once they became sexually mature theyre colours intensified dramatically and they have become the most attractive species i have ever kept.
