Thanx bro, appreciate the compliment. As long as you start of with a group I can't see why you wouldn't be able to getting a breeding pair.

That's an incredible pair, Koltsix! It looks like I will have to remove my Cutteri from my Lyonsi pair. The female Lyonsi will be ready to breed soon and the Cutteri are constantly courting her and fighting each other for breeding rights. The male Lyonsi is still her chosen mate but I don't want any accidental Cutteri x Lyonsi hybrids. Funny, never considered this as a potential problem when building this stock. I thought I'd share this experience with the OP.

Thanx bro. Wow I wouldn't have thought that a Cutteri and Lyonsi would show interest in each other either. I have thought about maybe Hybridizing my Lyonsi as I love the yellow and the flower type pattern on them. Always wondered if Lyonsi where used in creating Flowerhorns or just Trimac's and I've always wondered if breeding more Lyonsi into a Flowerhorn would help lessen the aggression of Flowerhorns and help increase the prominence of the flower pattern. I'm not trying to derail though so I'll leave it at that.
Agreed very nice pair.

Lost interest in this idea shortly after I thought of doing it. I have learned I can receive air cargo at my local airport and that has made me take interest in this again. I'm pretty sure I am gonna grab several smaller ones and put them in my community tank. Its good to hear they aren't overly aggressive like Amphilophus can be. Last thing I want to wake up to is a tank full of dead fish.

Thanx bro, and definitely get a couple of these guys and spread them around. They're either endangered or extinct in the wild and they need more people breeding them. Honestly the only reason I was trying to sell my pair is I wanted to try my hand growing out and breeding something new and I regret it now that I'm down to just my big girl.

Don't mind the derail.

You could always see if Gage has any large males, I know he has 5-6" ones but he might have larger ones. Any other pictures or videos of them?

I was thinking about getting another big guy, but my male just had a truly wicked looking mug on him that I haven't seen on any others. I actually wanted to try my hand at hybrids and just picked up some Kirin's and a Thai Silk. If I could sell my adults in my main I'd totally try a mix of juvenile cichlids and see what happens. Hmmm, it feels wrong to think of as I said Lyonsi are at very least endangered, but I'd love to see a Lyonsi and Loisellei hybrid. Anyway here's a quick vid of them together, hope you enjoy it bro and it inspires you to form a breeding group.

Kirins are awesome, have 7 myself and love them. Couple fish I have never seen hybrids of that would love to see are Argentea and Lyonsi.

Awesome they seem really chill. The cat is the bottom left looks dead lol. How long did it take them to get to that size? Plan on housing them in my 125g with 4 BP. Can't grab any though untill early July though its gonna be a hell of a wait.

I bought them as adults from Ira(Wishlist). If they grow anything like Hogaboomorum(second smallest Amph as far as I know) it should take a little over a year. I manage to get my guys to grow pretty fast on what I call my temporary boss tank.lol! Fish are rotated into the boss tank which is filled with nothing but dithers every 2 months. This is where they show their greatest growth as in my opinion there's less stress for them and they essentially get to be the boss of a tank for awhile.lol! Only downside is it sometimes creates a fish that's overly dominant. I also subject them to periods of less food every 3 months which also seems to create a growth spurt. So for one month I decrease feedings to once a day and sometimes every other day.
