an experiment

I understand what he's saying. Pushing the natural limits of fish is inherent in our hobby. I don't think he's killing fish for pleasure just experimenting. People do that all the time on here.

I think what he's doing is a little foolish but no worse than all the popular overstocked tanks you see on here. I understand what he's thinking. I wouldn't push that hard on the thermal envelopes. I would waste life/money like that but I don't hate on him. Plenty of worse fish keepers on here. You guys are leveling some serious accusations at him.

In my accidental experience a roommate turned off our house heat during break back when I was living at school. Over the week our house dropped below freezing with my african 110 tank dropping below 60 degrees Fahrenheit. No one died. That being said they would have died in short order if my other roommate hadn't turned the house heat back on prior to my return.

I know your only 14 and young but man you have to listen to what some people are telling you on here. you already have a fully stocked pond (some species which shouldnt have been there legally *king salmon*) i've read your threads about multiple species of tropical fish. If they cant live through winter in your pond ****DONT PUT THEM IN**** its as simple as that, listen to advice and you wont see your fish dying or getting as much bad replies as this. you really have to look at the laws of your state. i just read your thread http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=416307. " I always thought they would only take over the southern states but heard on tv that they would go into canada and was like WHAT? but I am going to florida for vaca so I just might bring one back... My pond has a lip so in no way possible could it get out..."

come on man... stop being careless and learn about your fish species and laws before you become a fish keeper. its that simple

ohh ya. i live in ottawa and my parents live an hour east of toronto. i was talking to my stepdad the other day (who has NO clue about keeping fish, but does a lot of fishing) and i asked him about snakeheads in the area. he freaked out and had a big rant about it. i think he said he saw someone catch one while he was ice fishing

they would wreck our fishing hatcheries, and lakes its no joke. obviously this guy Troppond has no clue about the laws or responsibilities of fish keeping.

god that is really wierd to think of someone pulling a snakehead out of an ice hole... I was confused with regions of the world, and if a snakehead somehow escaped my pond, he would have to crawl down a hill, up a large ditch, through some woods full of coyotes to a creek about 1000 yards away... and i saw on tv, they have soft fins and cant walk, they just kind of squirm about 10 feet and then give up, this is all after escaping a large pond with a lip around the edge

Probably a bowfin, not a snakehead.

Troppond thats not the point. Its a FELONY. you can be arrested for owning, transporting. i dont care if it wont escape, its illegal what part or that dont you get. your other thread was already closed by a mod for you stating you wanted to get a snakehead from florida in your pond.

there is no "If it escaped", you shouldn't be thinking about it in the first place, due to the fact you could get arrested.

Exactly. No matter how your pond is set up, it is illegal. Nothing makes it OK.

I can't believe that you openly stated on a public forum that your were considering committing a felony to obtain a fish that would probably die anyway because you would run some type of "experiment" on it. That really sums up how responsible you are. I bet your parents are proud.

You are aware that it has openly been said that police do moniter this site for people bragging about owning illegal fish such as snakeheads and asian aros. You are bragging about commiting a felony in a public forum where your IP can be traced. I seriously hope that you are just full of s*** like most other young teenagers and are only talking big to make yourself seem cool. Otherwise you WILL eventually find yourself in serious trouble at some point in your life.
