This goes to show, Eric, that we should not be narrowminded however much crossbreeding will happen in the wild or captivity. It will happen in the wild even you dislike the idea of them doing it. It's beyond our control. Ever wonder how new species crop up in the wild everyday as shown by plenty of recent discoveries? Couldn't have said it better. Second that. Progenies from interspecific crosses are usually sterile (e.g., mules), but in rare cases some combinations could work out.
