Hybrids are natural. It occurs in the wild just as it does in the aquarium, though certainly not to the same degree. It's no different than 2 different dogs or cats mating and producing a mutt/hybrid.

:shakehead not to the same degree exactly. Even wild hybrids I hate. I didn't just say in the aquarium :screwy:

This goes to show, Eric, that we should not be narrowminded however much crossbreeding will happen in the wild or captivity. It will happen in the wild even you dislike the idea of them doing it. It's beyond our control. Ever wonder how new species crop up in the wild everyday as shown by plenty of recent discoveries? Through evolution and possibly crossbreeding as part of their survival instincts.

Second that. Progenies from interspecific crosses are usually sterile (e.g., mules), but in rare cases some combinations could work out. This happens more frequently in plants (usually between subspecies) and, like Lupin said, has been a major driving force during evolution.

It can be argued that "man-made" hybrids is a different story. I don't personally keep hybrids but really, whatever makes people happy. As long as the hybrids are clearly identified and not a money-making fraud.

Neither have I ;) That was the point. There is nothing wrong with hybrid fish aside from personal taste and preference. Kinda like me thinking red devils are ugly as sin. I'm sure that's how Eric feels was about hybrids for whatever reason he feels that way.
