anacondas at pet supermarket

While 30 ft monsters are very rare (in fact, its been decades since one has been recorded), people don't realize exactly how large a 20 ft python/boa really is, or even one that's 15 ft. I dunno about anyone else, but a 15 ft snake is big enough for me.

Florida is proposing restrictions on keeping large constrictors that exceed 12 ft, specifically the "Big 5:" green 'condas, burms, retics, african rocks, and scrubs. They're even wanting to regulate Nile monitors because that species has already established a breeding population in south Florida. Here's the link: http://www.legacy.com/chicagotribune/Pets/PetsLinkView.aspx?LinkId=263&GroupId=303

I personally agree with this action, and hope that it spreads to every state. I see it as a considerably justifiable attempt to better regulate ownership of these large predators (because that's what they are) while still allowing responsible folks to keep them.

Fair enough on the Nile monitors if they are ending up as a non-endemic pest. Dont here so much of big snakes aren't released. Although not long ago somewhere around where I live there was an adult black kingsnake that had been released and a week later some species of T. I dunno, some people just get on my tits.

well i rather see someone buy one of these then a venemous snake which i see being sold at a local reptile show monthly sometimes for less than $50 depending on the sepcies. thats just plain stupid but what ever makes them happy i guess.

Anaconda? I don't even like garden snakes.

What pythons are native to your state? I imagine their habitat is a bit different, but you never know. I'm yet to see a live snake over here. I hope to go adder hunting though in the coming months (just searching, not hunting lol). Never seen a grass snake either. Sucks, 'cause my dog got bitten by an adder, and a friend had a "nest" down by the side of his shed, never saw one though :(
