Not being funny, but good luck to you if you do get hold of some, seems like a pretty extreme pet to keep from what i've seen... Dont you have to feed them things like whole pigs and stuff when they get older?

Why let this thread die? I believe there are quite a bit of people interested in this species as I am....and as far as the size of these guys, the one I know is captive bred and shouldn't exceed 10feet...male snakes don't get half as bug as females especially anacondas. Also bc he was specially bred to be slightly smaller I guess they're dwarf anacondas? I don't know exactly how that's done but breeders seem to be very successful in it. I would only want males bc not only do I want a normal sized snake but I think from my own personal experience males are more friendly...I have tons of experience with huge snakes, I'm just not sure I want to spend that kind of money on feeding and housing a 20 + foot female ;-)

That's only if they get around 20feet...I don't plan on having one that size, but if so it would be a lot of work and money, but it deffinately would be interesting ;-)

Captive bred doesn't matter... they still get big. A 10 ft male will be average, and obviously the females get bigger.

And even though the plan for babies is in theory, I'm guessing it will stay that way. Mostly because of anaconda breeding habits. You need MANY males and a female to get them to breed....not just one of each. Read up on bredding balls and their wild habits and you'll understand why.

As for the 10 ft vs 20 ft care... they are not that far apart. Aside from more space to move/swim, the diets will be close (and cost roughly the same). The bigger the snake, the more safety you need to plan in (handling, cleaning, enclosure design/strength etc...).

I'd say this thread is more of a pipe dream than anything.

I wouldn't want a Green Anaconda due to their size and the fact I find them ugly as sin, but I would not mind at some point getting a Yellow. But with two Boas, a Burm, and possible Retic soon I just do not see it happening for a while.

Lol,.yea this guy now takes monsterous turds always in his water though, it looks like a dog went in his cage and left it behind...lol for me pipe dream or not I would love to own one and even though I would prefer a small male, I still wouldn't mind a huge snake in the future.
