And it has Begun(muahahahaha)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yes it is. ya its going on an outter wall, I guess i can deal with a 8'x 44"x34"

with it being on an outside wall i would try to do some bracing the tank you are thinking of(8' x 44" x 34") will be about 620 gallons so just your water weight will be around 5280 lbs now you have to add in the weight of the tank the the rocks/sand and decoration in the tank. Then there is the stand and filtration so you are looking at roughly 8000 ++ lbs. Would just really hate to see your floor give way

I would stick with the 300G until you are on a concrete floor. especially since your renting. I haven't looked at this thread in a while but glad to see its back on course. good luck I will be watching

yea I hadnt of thought of all this when i was sucking up to my wife to allow me to build this. Im going to stick with the 300

Is anyone genuinely concerned with my original frame to the point they believe i should rebuild?

as far as the discussion on glass thickness goes, from what I have read, the main factor in determining glass thickness is the height of the tank.

the length and width do not matter so much

thats why Marinelands (Perfecto's) 300g wide tank is made with only 1/2" glass for example.

its 6 feet long and 3 feet wide, but only 27" tall so 1/2" is fine..

well Yes I am BL. Im going to use a 2x3" frame this time doubled on front and sides
