"I wouldn't go as far as to say that idiocracy rules america, thats way too much of a generalisation. Though agreed, some peoples comments are not the nicest."

Yea, sorry about that. But from what i'm seeing here its the majority.

It has nothing to do with the US or this website or any group of people. If they are indeed doing that for pure entertainment then i wonder what they think when they see something that makes them feel strongly?

We don't exactly have a death fetish. You see something that sickens you, what...is your first reaction going to think of the wellbeing of those involved? please....

I don't treat my mammals different from my fish, my dog gets meat and my fish get feeders as treats, the only real difference is I don't feed my dog a live animal as it is cruel, I also don't feed my fish another fish so big they cant kill it in one blow.

I have to say, it creeps me out a little at the joy people get by posting their fish eating feeders, but I can kind of see the excitement in it. I'm a goldfish guy myself, so that is probably why I don't like it ;)

And people who think they don't feed their fish out of entertainment... who are you kidding? You may not laugh when you watch it kill the other fish, but the end product is the same; you are keeping your pet fish for entertainment.

As to the title 'Animals torn to pieces...', well what do you expect? Animals don't exactly die of old age in nature, they typically die by disease, starvation, or being torn to pieces. It isn't nice, but that's the way she goes.

Lions (or tigers, can't remember!) have to eat, and feeding them a live animal is the best thing for them I imagine... I'd say it is crueler to feed them processed meat because we find it less 'icky'.

...but throwing the animal 30 feet is just not cool!

I can see your point and I agree but I dont think they should be fed and taunted for entertainment purposes. If it were for health purposes and trying to keep them as if they are in a natural habitat and such, then yes, but its just the fact they do it for entertainment and pure joy. They arent the only country that are cruel to animals either all countries have their downfalls.

Only three things to say about this;

1. Monsterfishkeepers as a rule don't charge admission to the general public to watch their fish eat live prey, they feed live foods to meet the dietary requirements of fish, which they have a moral obligation to do.

2. It serves no practical purpose to judge the norms of one culture through the rose coloured glasses of another...you can't help but see things out of context.

3. 3:1 odds that the western democracies will be at war with China sometime within the next twenty years. Perhaps after enduring that experience, we might better understand how they think.

I'm waiting for that.

We North Americans are the moral reference point for the world...

Instead of being exposed to the animals we eat, the land that is destroyed for our crops, and the forests that are cut down for our paper and timber... we just buy it at a store and sneer down at everyone else that gets their hands dirty.
