Another dog biting story

ohh and they house pets, the male will growl when missed with , but never never bites.

I am surprised the food test has not been mentioned with a sheltered dog to be re homed.

yup, they use a fake hand, and after re-rehabilitating say a rescue dog the last test is to give it food then insert a fake hand to take it away, if the dog bites the hand then dog is not adoptable and must be put down.

darth pike, id like you to be my best friend.

if the parents were told "dont let your kid run around." and they let their kid around, the parents are to blame.
a lot of dogs are pretty freaked out by kids. kids are loud, the make really awkward movements, they dont have too much control of their strength. that and, if the dog is feeling threatened in a pin, he will most likely react in that manner. he has no where to run.
they didnt warn the parents because the dog is a biter, they warned the parents because they know what theyre doing.

and thats not always the case pops, food aggression is pretty simple to break. depending on the rescue they may decide to work with the dog instead of killing it.

Heh. People never seem to want to blame the parents now a days for bad parenting. It's always someone else's fault. Or somethings. Or the stars or whatever hippy thingy they can think of to shift blame.

And I did say in my post I 100% agreed with the dog being put down in that video I posted. That was an unprovoked attack. Fully warranted. This bite? Not so much.

Hello; Two themes are repeated often in this thread. Blame the parents is one. I get that the parents action allowed the child to be in a position to be bitten. I suppose every time a child is injured we could trace back to a step where supervision failed.

Another theme implies that dogs in general do not react well to (insert condition here) _____________.
Let me stress again my view of the serious implication this has. This in a way makes most dogs suspect and if this theme becomes widely accepted, then it follows that most dogs are a danger to people under those conditions. This makes sense for things like a dog being kicked, poked with a stick, having it's eyes gouged or in some other way seriously hurt. The notion that being hugged by a child should be on the list of reasons for a justifiable bite seems to go too far. It sort of seem like some folks are looking to justify nearly all dog bites by saying; It's not really the dogs fault because you did _____________________.

While I have been suspicious and cautious all my life when meeting strange dogs, the large majority turn out to be OK. A few have been what I consider dangerious to be around, not many. Quite often the owner understands they have a bad one knows and has the dog on a heavy chain or in a good enclosure. Some people seem to like having such dogs. These dogs are a liability time bomb in my opinion.

Then we have a situation such as the cat chasing the dog video in a previous post. That incident being so graphic that even some dog people actually admit to seeing a "bad dog" which deserves to be put down.

You see "hugged", dog sees a strange little thing restricting my movement in the place in which I have no where to run.
The dog most likely would've reacted completely different in a different setting.
The rescue warned them because they know this.

Hello; I see a two year old child hugging a dog and being bitten. For many of us it simply does not matter what the dog sees. Many do not want dogs around that bite two year old children for such a reason. For that matter I do not want dogs biting small children at all.
