I was not BASHING you sir, I simply said that you apparently like fish, why get out because you lost a fish? I do not coddle people like most here I give good stern advice. If you wrecked your car, do you sell it and start walking? If your house burns partially, do you sell the rest and live in the woods? No, you keep going, that is life.

I know you lost a goliath and black arrow, how do you value those or what else have you lost. 10,000 is a lot of money. Just curious.

We'll i lost a 18'' Blue eye Pleco 16'' GATF 22' BLack Aro 10'' Tigrinus. And a few thing's i can't list. These fish get pricey.

I never really thought you bashed me.

pitiful to see.. happens too much..sorry for your loss.. i need to add.. you are not alone.. it happened to me once... another arow is waiting for you somewhere... next time you will know better and things will work out.. i am glad i got another one.. he is going on 8 years old now.. you can too..

Good deal, hope you do not sell your fish. Take my advice. I am glad it did not take you 4 readings to comprehend it.

Good luck.

Oh man thats sucks big time J I hope all gets better for you.. but don't leave fish keeping you will regret it! maybe keep common and easy fish instead of rare fish rather than dulicate fish and then go from there.

sorry, i've been gone all day.
sorry about your loss man!

i think everyone is missing the point. its not about the money. granted, thats a lot of cash to lose, but its about a long string of bad luck.
that kind of bad luck would make almost everyone consider throwing in the hat.

to all the haters/ misinformed -- i've seen most all of these fish, and they all look great! i would almost consider drinking the water in his tanks. water quality is NOT an issue.

jeff- i respect your decision, no matter what you decide, but just remember, when you lost your first huge group of fish it was a freak accident. and something like that will never happen in your tanks again.
the 2 jumpers may or may not happen again. thats the risk you take with aros and atf
maybe consider downsizing?
or maybe stop keeping jumpers ;)

i vote you keep at least the tig (you know you want to :naughty:) frt, perch and start adding the cichla :headbang2
and maybe some cats ... then you should be in the clear

just my 2 cents

That sucks. But you have to remember, fish have to die someday, they dont live forever. So you have to accept that all the money you put out is gonna wind up down the drain anyway. Thats why I never get crazy with this hobby. I never buy really expensive fish.

I see peopel with expesnsive fish alot of the time to impress their friends. I dont even have any rare fish and I really enjoy the fish I have.

Yeah, I knew you weren't going ALL out of the hobby because I saw that you weren't selling that beautiful SW eel... hehe.

I won't be one of those people screaming at you to STAY IN THE HOBBY!!!!!

You do what you feel you need to do.

You can always rebuild/rebuy... this is a weird comparison but I am a hairdresser. Hair grows back. You can always start again, either with little babies or fish that are already grown out. Whatever.

Just like people who ruin their hair can always "give up" then start again. Hair grows back. Fish will always be there. You might have to wait a while to dye your hair again just like you might have to wait to find fish to replace you losses.

Eh this post is stupid I guess. whatever. I was trying to make a point but I kinda forgot what it was, lol.

Best of luck to you anyway.

:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:

jk !!!

i understand what you're saying, and for some people thats true. but not in this case
95% of people have not seen these fish. he keeps fish because he loves the fish not because he's trying to prove something.

Yeah I know. All I am saying is once you buy fish you already threw your money away. You have to accept that if you spend $1 or $1000 its not refundable, the fish die in the end. Its not something that lasts forever.

I know some people in hobbies ( not just fish), that let that hoarder mentality take over. They wind up getting frustrated or regret their hobby. They waste tons of money and never enjoy it.
