I dont think its the supplier , because the store owners prices are triple than Conkels and Ira's prices and he names these things sometimes to sell to his customers that aren't knowledgeable about the particular fish, if the guy gets his stock from Don, I wonder why other vendors and store owners that buy from Conkels keeps legit species and the right names, because he will let you know if the fish are hybrids or not. From what I understand plus you said chris that he keeps fish looking nasty in them tanks just for sales he don't care

I have a Red Tiger Mot that just spawned with a Red Devil. The are both wild so they will be F1". $130 each. come and get them the Chancho will finish them soon.

nevermind , that was something you said about there fish before in that store, they have high prices I think you said, but thats all nice fish though regardless , oh and that piebald catemaco is real nice chris, I think i might get a pair from Ira

When I've been to A J , I haven't seen anything along these lines. I will say that if they are indeed making up names they should be called on it . Everything else I've seen at that store has been basicly spot on.

Gotcha. Their new shipment has even better specimens, whatever they are!

If you get a chance, take a trip there soon. I doubt the "new" species are going anywhere soon as they aren't really lookers. But it would be cool to see what they say to you if you ask about them.

Have they sold any of these fish??? Because people that would sepend that much on a fish are normaly people that are very into the hobby like many of us and would not fall for this.

I bet the price will drop on them.

Unreal. That's a made up name and not from Don. If it was a hybrid of Don's he would label it a hybrid-period. That's just a case of some guy trying to make a quick buck on some unheard of fish that doesn't even exist and hope to catch the "right fool" to buy it to make an extra buck.Not cool at all.

But those fish did come in from a DCT order.......as did the A. cincaia last year. So the LFS is either choosing to buy a fish from Don under one (hybrid) name and sell it as a species OR they are being mislead. I can never get a straight answer from either party. Heck, at one point Don came on here and said he hadn't dealt with any LFS in Virginia Beach for over 10 years!

As soon as the chancho finished spawning with the 3rd female. Yes he has spawned with 3 females in 2 days. Lucky MF. He ran the RTM away from her rock and the small fish ate the eggs.

The chancho has earned a name he is now called Lucky

The only thing I can say is I personally have never seen either of those fish you named on his list nor has he ever said,"Hey John I got a new species in that's called...."-whatever the heck they were, so I would pretty much bet on it that its that lfs making up names.The only hybrid he has on his list is loisellei X chairel carpintis.And if you think he came on the site and said the above,than why is it hard to believe that whoever is labeling fish at that particular store is making stuff up?Or maybe that LFS is going through a 3rd party-who knows?Or maybe the fish aren't even from DCT at all and he's just throwing his name around because people respect him. Who knows?
And last but not least.....maybe it really is a new species
