I don't think we have any Petlands or Petco's here in Canada! :)

I checked Pet Lands Canadian web site and we have one in Hamilton and St.Cathrines.:D

Actually most of the original fish staff quit, as I have been going there for a while so i knew most of them, since I didnt recognize the lady I asked her about the staff and found out nearly everyone left...

It's weird that you said that... The one here got a new manager and those that didn't quit were fired :( I can't stand going there now :irked:

And they don't take trades or give credit either. They will take your fish and then adopt them out for free. They won't put them in thier regular tanks because they "don't want any outside diseases". The weird thing is that all of the fish that have been put up for adoption have always been way healthier than what they get from their wholesaler.

What's funny is most LFS are cheaper than petsmart anyway.

Not so around here.
Mom and Pop's around here average 200% markup versus even online pricing, and onliners make money too.

It must be a regional thing. I bought some Africans at my lfs for $4, and Petsmart here sells them for $6.

most of the time i do notice petsmart has some better prices then mom and pop stores, but really i trust the lfs way more the petsmart so i'll pay extra just for the peace of mind involved in dealing with somebody competent and erudite.

I always salt my FW tanks the day before I get new fish just to help protect my current stock and the new guys encase they do have something...
