another Tenecor let down

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Here's their terms and conditions. Doesn't really say what happens when you deliver a tank that looks like it was built by a group of intoxicated monkeys.

http://tenecor.com/docs/Tenecor_Terms_Conditions.pdf

It does however, mention 'wrong, missing, damaged, or defective' products, but would that apply here? Sure, it looks like crap, but is it "defective"? Should the warranty cover cosmetic issues caused by poor workmanship?

It's not like he's debating a scratch here. It's a clear manufacturing defect.....On a fish tank that cost over $2 thousand dollars.

I'd take them to court if I had to if I were you. It's a clear cut case.

How is it a defect? If anything, the seams might be even stronger now. It's just unsightly.

If you bought a truck that came with big-ass bubbles in the paint, would it be defective?

You can almost buy a cheap car with what a few of these clear plastic boxes cost...and it won't have bubbles in the paint.

I would argue yes, it's defective. But that also depends on how you define defective. Knowing how Tenecor treats their customers, they would fight this and say it's not defective and the tank performs its task of holding water perfectly fine.

More glue/solvent does not make acrylic bonds stronger. Acrylic solvents work in that they melt and evaporate leaving the 2 pieces as bonded acrylic. Adding more in this case does not help, especially when it is riddled with bubbles.

@ Jc1119 - Also, I'm glad to recommend a quality product. I'm happy it worked out as well for you as it did for me.

Dang. This sickens me as I bought my first large (500 Gallon) tank from Tenecor. I got it in 2009 and have been completely satisfied with it. Everytime I see a thread from someone bashing Tenecor I feel the need to add that I'm happy with my tank. I obvioulsy lucked out and got mine near the end for this firm. I'm done with this, time to keep my mouth shut.

To the OP and OP's friend, good luck sorting this out. I hope you find aduquate resolution.

Still waiting to hear back from OP on what Tenecor said..

It's only been a few days. In my experience with tenecor this will take weeks to settle.

sorry for the wait guys Tenecor replied that this is common and it occurs when the acrylic cement is applied when the tank is sitting at a certain angle? WTF! they should bot be in business at all! Tenecor has not mentioned any resolution to this problem in the email either:irked:

Wow. So they assume the issue is resolved? Sounds like it's time to stop talking about this online, file a CC dispute if you can, and get an attorney, if you're willing to go through the hassle. Dealing with their CS reps isn't going to get you anywhere at this point.
