I sent WalMart a lengthy well thought out and well written letter about my beliefs on all of it. I bought a small guarmi years back - had Hexamita and knocked out an entire healthy fish population in only 3 days. Not only did I complain in this letter, but I also offered ideas. I brought to their attention that a lot of their problems could be solved with the products they sold not even 20' from the troubled tanks, and I gave them the idea of creating a new job. An aquarium tech. Not one per store, b/c the company as a whole loves to cut corners, but one per division, to go to the stores and use those products on the tanks and fix as many ailments as they can. I didn't even stop short of volunteering for the job. No reply from the company, as you may imagine. I also compared them selling sick fish to selling a child in school a computer desk that will collapse as soon as it assembled, only to ruin the electronics they put on it and damage the foundation of the floor beneath it.
Now, as far as these fish, YES I complained when I bought them. I tore into the guy pretty good, and informed him I was not buying them because I needed or wanted them, but because they were starving to death. I also criticized him and told him about how little time it would take him to feed the fish on a daily basis and pointed out some food. As for them making profit, they really didn't. There were over 20 in the tank, and I can promise that they will all be dead within two or three days. There's no way, even buying at cost, that selling three out of 20 fish can bring them profit.
The babies are doing so-so. One of the three seems out of danger of dying from starvation, but he has more of the disease than the other two. The smaller ones are staying at the top of the water unless they go down to eat. None of them are capable of swimming properly.... imagine rowing a rowboat with only one oar. Drift to the right, then to the left. Last night the three of them devoured an entire large bloodworm cube, and today I let them snack on some high quality flakes. I'll get to the shrimp tonight at my normal feeding time.
