Another WalMart Rescue Attempt...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the problem is most people don't know or don't care about them i was talking to one guy who said that they just don't carry food to feed them he says that he had to bring food from home because he didn't wan't to see them starve

IMO, NOBODY! should buy fish from walmart, your just supporting their sales and putting more fish to their deaths, altho we all feel bad for the sick and gross looking fish they have in their tanks, you should not buy. some walmarts are actually stopping the sales of live fish, which i consider a win, so do your part and dont buy them from wal mart!

yea, alot of people say " i saved this fish from his death at walmart" while that may be true, what about the next shipment walmart gets to fill in the void of their sales. an on going circle

how are they ?

I don't mean to sound like a B*, but I didn't mean for this thread to turn into a Walmart thread. Yes, the fish are from there, but I intended it to keep progress on the actual fish. We can talk about Walmart til the sun turns black and about the atrocities that happen in their tanks but nothing will change and Walmart will not go away. So. On with it.

The fatter of the three is doing very well. The middle one is doing alright but I'm pretty worried about the smallest. No matter how much he eats, he isn't gaining as of yet. Not even any belly bulges. The smaller two still are not swimming properly, and their fins are still... weird. I don't know how to put it. And there's no way I can get an up close of the fins to show you what I mean. They're too little, and if I zoomed close enough it would be blurry. It almost looks like their pectorals are shaped pointing downward, or maybe it could just be because I don't SEE fins (eaten away) that they look different.

Still eating bloodworms consistantly - they all had one tiny chunk of market shrimp last night. Imagine this. The middle fish had a piece, the tiny one bit on, and they thrashed. The middle fish started swimming away, dragging the tiny one along clear across the tank. I'm seriously considering sticking the baby into a guppy nursery I have - one of the larger three way ones. Eventually the baby let go and found his own, but not after being drug around on a whole tour of the tank.

May try to take pictures later. There's not much there to photograph though... promise lol

Glad to hear they've survived to this point at least. GL with them and keep up the good work.

It seems as though I learned *nothing* from the last one... when I came home with 17 ich-ridden half dead guppies in an attempt to "save".

Just picked up three of the most pathetic looking baby senegals I've ever seen. They are almost three inches long, and I swear to you, their bodies are no bigger around than a Qtip stick. There was a whole tank of them, and I made the guy pick out the three most sickliest, thinnest, rattiest-lookin fish in there. I went at 2 in the morning - the tank lights were out. Primetime for senegal activity. But no... they couldn't even move. They'd become cannibals as well, and I watched for a few minutes as they ripped chunks out of each others fins for dinner. All but the top finlets are non-existent. Also covered in white blotches. Right now they're gorging on bloodworms. I might try to dice (I think "mince" might be a better word) some shrimp tomorrow. Medications are obviously in order, but I'll have to go easy or they might not be able to handle them. For now, they are staying in a barebottom 20 with a bunch of other babies... 3'' ABK, 1'' guppy (good luck to him), 2 2'' kuhlis, and 2 nicklesize veiltail angels. Wish me luck... if they make it and get big enough for a pic that won't break anyone's hearts, I'll share.

Sorry for no updates... my LFS had a fire and has been closed since late July. No new fish, no new diseases, no new growth spurts, no new news at all to be had.

You are really not rescueing fish you buy at walmart :( In all acutallity I wouldcall it supporting and paying for the ill treatment of more fish.

rescue from walmart in my opinion would be no purhcases of any aquatic animals they are selling.:)

Hope they do alright :)
