ok this was happening to me a few weeks ago
when yours want to close is there a box with a scrolling green line that pops up saying internets explorer wants to close but in reality it doesnt actually close and every time that happens you get a popup bubble in the lower-right of the screen saying something about "data execution prevention"? if that is the case i have a fix for you
i really don't remenber if it says that.. but i do know it says it wants to close and gives me a cancel close or close it option.. and i always cancel and it comes back on.. i will try and copy and paste it next time it does it..but very similiar to what yours was doing.. i have vista...

cleaning an infected computer can be a really complicated task
if you notice any abnormal behavior by your pc I recommend you scan now
cleaning first starts with a/multiple general cleaners

start with this(free version)
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
then you can try an online scan such eset one
http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/index.php

if your computer is still badly infected then we move on to analysing with HijackThis
and targeting the infections one by one with specialized programs

I took your suggestion and ran this malwarebytes.org-it found another 15 infected "objects" it said-I removed them as well...

Thanks for suggestion-

One more thing-Can this be re used like avast can?

well i think it can be used kind of like an anti-virus but only the pay version, free only scans and cleans
if you are sure your computer is clean then you can install some free stuff like avast or avg and if they dont include a firewall make sure to get one of those as well i think there is a free good one called comodo
this will offer you a medium/high level of protection
the best would be to go with an internet security suite but those are not free
also alot of these "viruses" being detected are probably just tracking cookies to disable them do this in internet explorer
tools->internet option->privacy tab->advanced->check override automatic cookie handling, allow first party cookies and block third party cookies
this makes it so that you only get cookies from the websites you visit and not the adsites which are affiliated with the sites you visit, cookies gives them info about your browsing

i already have symantec... so anti virus wize i am all set ..just wanted..more spy ware/ thanks for all the info on settings for internet explorer... i will check it out and see if that makes a difference..:D

btw red devil the cookies thing has nothing to do with your Internet explorer closing those steps are just to stop 3rd party cookies for people detecting them on virus scans

now for people having problems with Internet explorer trying to close
this is only aimed at people who's internets tries to close because of DEP(Data Execution Prevention)
WARNING DO NOT FOLLOW THESE STEPS UNLESS YOU KNOW IT IS DEP THAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM
-to be sure DEP is causing the problem, when internet tries to close look for a bubble that says something about data execution prevention on the bottom right corner of your screen
-First method:
1. Open System by clicking the Start button
GetOpenContent.aspx
, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking System.

2. Click Advanced System Settings.
GetOpenContent.aspx
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

3. Under Performance, click Settings.
4. Click the Data Execution Prevention tab, and then click Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select.Add internet explorer (Path if you need it is "c:/program files/internet explorer/iexplore.exe")

5. Reboot

second method(if first method fails and you are still getting DEP errors)
WARNING THIS METHOD WILL COMPLETELY DISABLE DEP AND LEAVE YOUR COMPUTER AT RISK OF RUNNING MALICIOUS CODE IF YOU ARE NOT WELL PROTECTED(w/ antivirus and firewall)
1. Go to the Start Menu
GetOpenContent.aspx
, to Programs, to Accessories, and right click on Command Prompt. Choose “run as Administrator” and enter the password if appropriate.
2. What comes up is the Command Prompt, the stank version of DOS that Windows uses these days. Type in bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff and hit enter.
3. Close the Command Prompt by either hitting the [x] as usual or by typing exit, and reboot your machine.
4. When it comes back up again, you should now be able to do whatever you couldn’t before.
5. To re-enable it, follow step 1 again, but for step 2, type bcdedit /set {current} nx OptIn and hit enter. Reboot again and you should be back to normal.
NOTE: If for some reason this command does not enable DEP after restarting the computer, then use the bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOn command instead.

thanks understand now... the internet explorer problem has not happened again .. i am waiting so i can verify what it says when it wants to close... i just bought the vista book for dummies.. lol

well it just happened to me... this is what it said... Internet Explorer has stopped working .. a problem caused the program to stop working correctly..windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.. { of course they never do... and then the program continues to work anyway}..drives me nuts...

I use Avira Anti-Vir Personal, along with Advanced System Protector, and Comodo Firewall. This trio works wonders, and imo are better than any paid for Anti Virus. And in addition I use Spyware Blaster, which runs in the backround and blocks bad websites and active x spyware. All of these can be downloaded a t download.com. The only difference between paid versions, and these are that the paid av's are usually bundled together, insted of needing 2 or 3 different apps. Also most free Anti Spywares have to be manually updated.

But no matter how much AV you have the best way to keep viruses away is to just be smart and watch what you click on or download. You can use McAfee site advisor also to screen the sites you visit to see if they are safe. Hope this helps.

Oh, but if for some reason you only wan't a commercial AV Kapsersky would be my top pick.

so red devil you didnt notice any bubble popup on the bottom right of screen?
I mean this
