Any one knows what've happened to the Petsmart Frontosa??!!

I found an awesome Petsmart. I recently posted a thread about it. I picked up a snook from it and a Midas. This store was super clean and the staff were considerated and knowledgable. I was very impressed.

it would be nice if they had more CA cichlids.

Petsmart gets "opportunity" fish in every 3 months. That means to compete with a local fish store that can get new fish in every week they get about 7 new fish in every 3 months, 2 of which can be cichlids.

This time is was the frontosa and 4 line pimellodella. I think the time before it was the jacobfrebergi peacock and the tri spot cichlid (flowerhorn culls). The time before that was the bolivian ram and something else.

Now its the tropheus moori and the curviceps cichlid.

Its totally lame, some poopsmarts will have them and some won't. The one I used to work for had the lamest of all fish. I would get giddy when a botia would ship with cory cats or a green terror with the jack dempseys. Some have them and some don't, but if your poopsmart doesn;t have discus and aros then they will never have discus and aros. Those are for specific poopsmarts only (trust me I asked if we could order leichardti's or black aros in and they were pretty ticked that I asked, got all defensive after I showed them that I found the card for them and the care guides in the back, they just said they have absolutely no choice what comes in and doesn't).

My locals petsmarts have already had the "L. curviceps".
They truned out to be L. dorsigera BTW. Didn't look half bad either. :)

The girl @ my store kept telling me to check every thursday for their new shipment since I notice the sign for the Ram but no stock (I want ram!!). I did, but never got 1 and they finally took the sign away. The only good thing was I got to see her smile every week.

I work at Petsmart and from what I understand they get some opportunity fish every once in a while (as someone above me mentioned) and if they don't sell them quick enough the price drops. Our jacobfreibergi ended up going for like a dollar each. In general, I think you can do better on fish prices...but if you are good at identifying fish you can get really good deals out of the "assorted tanks".

That was how I got my "6 1/2 stripes frontosa" (not an official name, my personal name). I thought it was a 7 stripes front., but when I looked at it the next day in my tank, it had 6 stripes, then every other few days, it had 7 stripes, then 6, then 7....
I was thinking how the hell the 7th stripe comes and goes, right? Finally, I found out it has 6 stripes on 1 side, and 7 on the other. No doult it is hybrid, but I love that fish.

i worked a pet smart for a year and they drop the prices when they cant sell or when they have to make room for new fish. with the fronts i guarantee they just werent selling for 24 so they dropped the price. seen it happen many times. it isnt a pad place to get fish most of the time though. they ones around me arent anyway. oh and they will never get discus or arrowanns. their system isnt good for discus. ph is way to high and water is way too hard for discus.
