Newbies buy chemicals

I fall into the newbie category. I believe in your definition johnPTC does too

I use dechlor on large water changes. I use carbon inline filters for small water changes (drip system).

I just had a bad exp with chemicals maybe 5 years ago on a Reef tank where all my inverts died. Now i only top off the Reef tanks with water from my freshwater tanks and top off the Freshwater tanks with aged water from 5 gallon jugs.

What about chloramines? Does aging take care of that as well?

I'll stick with Prime. Room for bulk water storage just doesn't exist in my house:)

in anything but my goldfish tank, havent used anything but prime as far as i remember

oh, i used metro to treat a sick stingray upon arrival, but thats fairly normal for them

Last i remembered reading Chloramines (if you have them) don't go away by aging/aeraiting? Did this change?

Edit: Forgot to add, like Rallysman i use inline carbon on my drip. And if ever i do a large water change i use prime. I also slow drip diluted prime. 12 hours a day.
