I also highly recommend anyone that hasn't tried using the gymnastic rings, to do so
I had a chance to try this one time, I couldn't do much anything on them. I just don't see how its humanely possible to do an inverted-cross on these things

I had my right rotator cuff tear repaired 3 years ago. Today, I can't bench press very much, but I can do bar dips all day long.......as a matter fact, earlier this morning, at the gym, I strapped on a 45lb (20.4kg)weight to make it a tougher workoutI don't go quite that far lol, but I find that the movements such as dips; don't give me any shoulder pain whatsoever, whereas bar dips will destroy my cuffs

For me, its about longevity; so I avoid anything that puts my joints at risk, that doesn't mean I avoid hard work lol, I just pick my battles.
I'm turning 45 in a few months, and proud to say that I have the body of a 20 year old surfer. So, the gym is more about health and fitness than anything else for me......the cut physique and six packs are just a bonus![]()
That's the kinda stuff you're entitled to brag about when you hit a certain ageHaha dont be modest now...![]()

Take it slow and don't rush to those high numbers. My clinic sees plenty of power lifter types with messed up backs and joints on a regular basis. Micro tears, you have no idea occurring, are very likely to come back to haunt you later on in life
I love benching, squatting, deadlifting; my numbers are paltry, but those movements are so fundamental that they cannot be overstated.
I also do weighted chins, in place of overhead pressing; since it beats up my rotators no matter how much mobility work I do.
I also highly recommend anyone that hasn't tried using the gymnastic rings, to do so; they are superb accessories, especially ring flyes, dips, rows and face pulls.
Did you wrestle in high school?
