Anybody into weight lifting/body building?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the gym is my second home when I'm not playing ball. I played baseball all my life, through HS and at the collegiate level so keeping in shape was always a must. I coached for a couple years and had small routines for my team to do post-practices and I would always join in for the fun of it. Now that I'm not playing hardball or coaching, I play competitive softball 7 nights a week in the spring/summer/fall and play anywhere from 7 games to upwards of 20 in a weeks time (depending on whether there are tournaments or not that weekend. most games played in a day was 10)...
so I get plenty of cardio in, but I still manage to hit the weights 3-4x per week. Focusing on never lifting more than my body weight (whether it be calisthenics routines like pull ups/push ups, or weighted exercises like squats) to maintain strength at a decent size and not allow for bulk to get in the way of proper (swing/throwing) mechanics

My my, a whole thread of muscle junkies

I am only getting into weights now, and was only allowed to start them at the gym a while ago. I'm not interested in becoming massive but boy do i need it for rugby. I put on 2KG in the past 1.5 months which helps, back up to 70KG after dropping from 75 to 68. i can't get to the gym a lot, but planking, situps, a jog, and pushups happen almost daily and is really getting me in shape now :)

I love the gym. There's something about pushing ridiculous amounts of weight and wearing tight shirts.
I'm 6.1 245 lb
Bench 315 lbs
Squat 405 lbs
Dead 465 lbs
Leg press 790lbs

Was pleasantly surprised at my gym tonight, been totally done up to have more calisthenic stuff; rings etc, as well as two prowlers and a tyre flip, along with numerous squat racks! I was in heaven, and will be until everyone else "discovers" these exercises lol

What is a prowler and does your gym have those long thick ropes for upper body work?

Prowlers are the push/pull sleds that you load with weight.
