Honestly the khuli loaches are always out if you have 6 or more. Zooming everywhere

I've had a group for 7 years now. They inhabited various tanks. The first one was driftwood and leaf litter dedicated to them only. They hid in the leaf litter most of the time but were seen dancing early morning...

The 2nd tank was a heavily planted tank. In this tank they were out all the time in bright lights. It was the most suitable I think as they felt secure among the plants.

Their current tank is my pond and they are rarely seen there again, hiding in the clay pebbles in the plant baskets or underneath caves, even underneath the clown loach pvc pipe. But they bred in this tank and not long ago I saw a baby kuhli. It probably made it hiding in the clay pebbles...

Other than having lots of cover, a bigger number, Kuhlis will also come out if there are dither fish.

I have two synodontis shoutedeni that are more reclusive then any other fish ive had, including a jag cat. Typically synos are more active but not these lol. They abhor any kind of light.

I have a Blue Botia that I see probably every 2 months or so, he seems to always show up right about the time that I begin to wonder if he is dead. Other then that he is in excellent shape and has good body weight. lol

I used to have a spotted rafael catfish that disappeared shortly after i got it. I assumed it died or something. Years later, I moved, and sure enough I found it hiding in some driftwood i removed from the tank. After setting up again, the fish disappeared again. Years later, I moved again, but i couldn't find it. After re-setting up the tank again, the fish was magically there again, only to disappear.

Eventually it came time to give up on fishkeeping, and I was able to find him yet again. He was at least 10 years old when I rehomed him.

How big was he at the end if you remember?

Hello, Nicely planted tank. Looks like they might have been growing for awhile and propigated?

Yes, thank you for posting the thread. I have 2 striated Kuhli loaches that looks like an eel, but aren't the real thing like your's. Very shy and hide in the dungeon of a multichambered castle. I sometimes clean under the castle and may or may not see them. I put food near one of the entrances to their 'cave' .
I suppose if I put food gradually further away they might come out, but I don't want to stress them. They will rarely come out at night or even day.

Are you looking for other fish compatible with yours? Cat shark is supposed to be suitable with puffer and larger fish with your Eel.
I have 6 and they always out when outside is not too bright.
They always swim in circles after a water change and it goes on for hours and I worry if they die out of exhaustion lol
