My first post , been reading alot lately about lungfish & I am curious to know if anyone here has been bitten by one & would like to share your experience here . thks

Yeah... I have.. its not that bad when they are small.. but they can move way faster than u think... And they do i have fine teeth.. They are worth keeping...

i've been bitten by my red devil, and yess he drew blood.crazy red devil.

Lungfish....some species are alright, escpecially aussie lungs.....however, the bigger more powerful African lungs like Atheopicus for example have immensely powerful jaws. I've never been bitten, bt me and my bro one experimented using the corpse of a dead goldfish. We wriggled it in front of our Atheopicus, the bugger chomped down, hard. We cld hear the cuncussion from over a meter away.....the goldfish got thoroughly smashed. After seeing that...i'm not gonna risk letting my monster bite me.

Ive been bitten on my finger by my African once.

Although it wasnt an aggressive bite just a curious test when i was cleaning.

He was around 18" at the time

My lungfish bit me once when he was small and it hurt like hell (like slamming my finger in a door) and it bled too from his teeth ... now I am much more wary of stroking him on his head :)

I have been bitten by a 15" lungfish and it crushed my thumbnail and did not let go until it was slapped down onto the floor. The pain was incredible.

Once they have a hold they have a nasty habit of doing an aligator like thrash to tear flesh off.

Dude..did u really wack the lung on the floor ??? Hows the lung now ?

I've never been bitten myself, but heard about a guy at the LFS who was bitten by an 18" African Lung.

He was feeding the lung by hand and the lung overshot the intended food and got his finger. Wouldn't let go. Lot's of blood. And a lungfish on the floor (lung was fine). LFS worker ended up at the emergency room.

After that I both quit feeding my lung by hand and started using a long siphon when cleaning his tank.

I put my lung in his own tank after he literally bit the head off of a 6" African cichlid. The cichlid tried to steal a piece of shrimp from him, the lung snapped, caught the cichlid by the head, and shook him until a big, mouth shaped chunk was missing.

Im starting to worry about feeding jeremy by hand now :/

he struggles to find food as he has always had cloudy eyes so i have hand fed him from when he was around 8'' to his size now, almost 22''.

Like i said i was bitten but he just had my finger in his mouth but didnt bite down. My lung seems weirdly placid for a WAL...
