i am a big jet li fan, but there are a lot of his older movies i've never seen, the shaolin temple movies are some i've never seen and you're right, shaolin temple was his film debut, he was like 18-19 years old at the time. my all time fav jet li movie is Fist of Legend. part of the reason why is because i'm an even bigger bruce lee fan. Fist of Legend is kind of like jet's version of Fist of Fury, I was always under the impression it wasn't a remake but wikipedia says it is (Fist of Fury is formerly known as Chinese Connection). it's weird, Fists (with an "s") of Fury is aka The Big Boss in the US title. Anyways, a remake (if that's what it really is) like Fist of Legend is the only way i'd be ok with a bruce lee remake. Other than Fist of Legend, I'm a huge fan of the OUATIC movies. I love Jet Li's movies that are deeply phylisophical-based. His movies where they take place in the old days are my favorite kinds of martial arts movies. (fong sai yuk, shaolin temple, once upon a time in china, thai chi master, swordman) The older movies like Kid with Golden Arm and the gordon liu's are a bit before my time although I still enjoy them too. but my real love of kung fu movies are the ones from the 80's-90's. for movies made in the 2000's, Ip Man is at the top of that pyramid
btw, one of my fav quotes from Jet Li
I never say to myself I'm the best fighter in the world. If someone learns martial arts solely to pick fights on the street, to lean on it as a keystone weapon in conflicts, to use it to bully and intimidate others – then that person, in my opinion, cannot be considered a true martial artist.
Great quote from Jet Sumo, Aside from the skill, the two things I love about kungfu movies and the martial artists involved is the humility and honor everyone tries to portray. FOL is one of my favorites as well, I would like to see some of his early stuff tho. I bought Tai Chi Masters last nite, what did you think of that movie?
