Anyone into kung fu movies??

i think a bruce lee movie shouldn't even be remade. it's gonna take a lot of convincing for me. if you're gonna do it, you should do what Jet Li did, make a movie inspired by one of bruce lee's movies like what he did with Fist of Legend. but don't remake a bruce lee movie. Fist of Legend is one of my all time favorites. it was inspired by and a tribute to bruce lee.

I have to respectfully disagree about remaking Bruce Lee movies,I wouldn't mind a remake as long as it was done properly.Just think about it,as much as his films are classics the sound effects are really lame in them and they would be so much better in a remade version as well as the choreography. The problem of course,is finding someone to play Bruce......very big shoes to fill.

I agree here. Bruce Lee is credited for bringing MMA and kungfu movies to the masses, but in reality his fight scenes were kind of elementary. (with a few exceptions) I think there is alot of room for improvement. I liked Jet Li's remake, I just hate it when the actor is more occupied with trying to replicate Bruce's mannerisms, than showcasing some good kungfu. Seen any new kungfu movies krichardson?

Actually I haven't....Heck I have yet to even see any of the Ip Man movies or Fist of Legend.I have been buying up Saw Brothers discs left and right lately.Celestial Pictures has released my favorites on disc and they are crystal clear. It would be nice if they could be remade as well.

i'm not against a bruce lee movie remake exactly.

i'd be one of the people MOST for it, TRUST me on that one. if you guys know my post history about movies, one of my hugest pet peeves is a bad remake of a movie or a character such as movies made from comic books and stuff like that. i'd be highly skeptical and critical of a bruce lee remake. i've yet to see anybody do a bruce lee wannabe and do it an ounce of justice. that's why i prefer it not be done. i don't know who'd play the part. jet and donnie are passed their primes. they are both in their 40's right?

there is no talent out there that would fit the role and have the skills to do it. so that being the case, i'd rather not see one done right now. like i said, it would take a lot of convincing for me and it would need to be done right. Fist of Legend is not a remake, but it was inspired by bruce lee's chinese connection. and those kind of people would be the kind that i would want involved in a remake.

btw, thanks for those clips fatcat, i see you got the embedding down, lol. i love seeing old clips of jet li at his best. it reminds me of how good he really was.

ip man is by far the best all around martial arts movie ever. im a die hard jet li fan and have seen every film hes made including hard to find training and competitions he won. but then i saw D in ip man.... oh gawd. ive seen it prob over 30 times in the last 3 months. i can go a few days without watching the fight scenes. part 2 is kinda lame but the first fight scene is dope except for the crouching tiger bullcrap floating from chair to chair...

Yes, I did get the embedding down, thanks for helping me figure that out Sumo. As for our kungfu heros being past their primes, I agree. BUT the thing is, they are still capable of making awesome kungfu movies, even better than some of the old stuff they made when they were in their primes. Kungfu movies have really changed my perspective of action movies. Nowadays it's hard for me to get into movies where it's some meathead dumping whole clips on anything that moves or a car chase scene that the stunt guy had to do the driving in, (oh god I'm turning into my dad) it just doesn't appeal to me. The last of the OGs will be wrapping it up soon, but think about an original style kungfu movie with Gordon, Jackie, Jet, and Sammo in it. (the old grandmasters always kicked the most @$$ anyway) Have Lau Kar Leung direct it and it would be EPIC!! Sadly I know this could never be a reality due to the egos involved. Even when Lau Kar Leung worked with Jackie on Legend of Drunken Master they clashed and LKL walked off the set and I think it did hurt the movie.

I found this clip on youtube. My two fav directors battling it out. Who would of thought a fight between an old man and a fatty could be so good?

lkl is a badass, and it's amazing what sammo can do at his size

have you seen Operation Scorpio (aka Scorpion King)? if you're a lkl fan, you gotta see it if you haven't

I will have to add this one to my must see list.

I'm too lazy to read the other pages, but True Legend is awesome if it hasn't been suggested. Some of the best fight scenes I've seen lately. Right up there with IP Man.
