Anyone into kung fu movies??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Saw "The Legend of Drunken Master" (Drunken Master 2) last nite, it was awesome!! Lau Kar Leung directed and starred in it with Jackie. It was soo cool to see Lau Kar Leung do this movie at nearly 60... and schooling Jackie Chan at that! I thought the movie was really funny and the kungfu was excellent. Definately in my top 3.

From one of my 3 favorites, to one of the worst. I saw Donnie Yen's interpretation of Fist of Fury last nite and I thought it was horrible. Remaking a Bruce Lee movie is such a tall order, I really don't know what they were thinking when they made that movie.

i've heard of donnie's fist of fury, but i never seen it. people have pretty much said the same thing you said. it's not a movie i'd go out of my way to see.

i think a bruce lee movie shouldn't even be remade. it's gonna take a lot of convincing for me. if you're gonna do it, you should do what Jet Li did, make a movie inspired by one of bruce lee's movies like what he did with Fist of Legend. but don't remake a bruce lee movie. Fist of Legend is one of my all time favorites. it was inspired by and a tribute to bruce lee.

the picture of jet li's master in fist of legend is the exact same picture of bruce lee's master in his movie. i thought that was cool

Yea, I think this was a tv movie or something, oh well it was only $2 and change. I've already returned it for credit towards two other movies I just ordered, Legendary Weapons of Kung Fu and Martial Club, both movies starring my fav Gordon Liu and I'm pretty sure both are directed by Lau Kar Leung my favorite director. I've seen a few scenes from each, they both should be great.

so i just saw ip man 1 and 2

i'm glad i gave ip man another go. i seen it before and it had horrible subtitles so i couldn't follow the story. ip man totally lived up to the hype.

for ip man 2, i can see why some said it was over hyped. it started out great, but it had a weak plot and the whole thing with twister was a let down. it was good from the beginning to when he had to fight to get approval to teach. but when twister came into the movie, from that point on it just got kind of lame.

part 1 was way better than part 2

Lol, I feel the same way about the second Ip Man, as a matter of fact I only watch it up to the fight with Master Hung. This past weekend I saw Gordon Liu's 8 Diagram Pole Fighter and Jet Li's Legend of the Red Dragon, both movies were pretty good.

i just signed up for netflix for the first time. started the 30 day free trial, streaming only

i tried to find a bunch of movies we been talking about and most of them aren't available. once upon a time in china is only available on the dvd package only. sucks

gonna see if i can get some of the older ones with gordon and others. drunken master is available so that's on my to do list

Cool, I had a feeling a lot of these movies wouldn't be available. I know a regular dvd collection by todays standards is kind of old school, but I have quite a collection now. I bet alot of the "good stuff" will get harder and harder to get. Listening to the commentaries I realize alot of stuff I'm seeing today has been edited and some stuff has been lost. I know we probably will never see the talent we saw during the golden age of kung fu, todays heros rely too much on technology. Let us know if you find something you really like!

yea, scrolling down the movies i came across some old ones that i've never seen before, there's a few with donnie yen and some other old ones, i'll have check them out. i'll check in after i see them

This scene was posted already, but I liked watching it with music. I still wonder who would win.

Alot of you liked Fist of Legend as I did. This is Yasuaki Kurata (the guy who played Mitsukos uncle) battling Gordon Liu 16 years prior to FOL. I thought it was an interesting clip, the crab schuffle is funny!!

This clip is the end fight from The Prodigal Son. This is one of the first movies that really got me back into kungfu. I still pop this movie in pretty often. The cool thing about this scene is it's said to have been shot in full contact.
