Anyone keep Brachyplatystoma flavicans before?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I had it on Live feeders the first couple months until it settled in. After that I starved it and then introduced silversides, and/or market shrimp. Silversides are a common bait fish, and feed for saltwater fish.

I need to get one to go with my filamentosum!! lol, just too expensive for my pocket right now!

ur pics made me get one too. when do they start turning into the silverish chrome color? mines a little grey right now at 2"

2" seem abit hard to keep..all the best. I got mine at 4" already silver. Also water condition very important. Need some salt and aged water. Once it can feed on it own will be safe. Your still feeding blood worm right.

Please post some picture thank you.

Your accepting paypal? :naughty:

Why you want to buy me one? lol, you must really want to see one in my big tank:D

They look awesome guys. I would have got one on my last order, but the wife made me keep it under $100 which meant two really cheap catfish and crappy shipping. These guys were like $125 each. At a very small size as well. Sounds like their habits and needs are almost identical to filamentosum though.

Perhaps spilt into 2 payment:ROFL:
So easier get wife approval.

Would like to see all the Brachyplatystoma family in your tank.:headbang2

Richard just brought some in. Don't know if he still has, or are all sold. Babies...1"-2" And yes, they will eat. Trick is to have them in a small tank at first, with a whole lot of baby guppies. A few pregant "about to blow" live bearers are a good idea as well. When they drop the babies...Flav will get them. Besides that, leave them be. Feed the guppies high protein feed so it makes its way to the Flavs.
