Anyone on MFK Hunt?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just finished deer hunting last weekend here. Got a nice 8 point buck and our freezer is now stocked for the winter. :nilly:

I hunt, but not with guns or archery. The ferets do the killing. Loads of rabbits after a day of ferreting. Also did some ratting, but that is a bit more dangerous for the ferret.

Mind posting pics, aslong as they arent gorey(Forum is PG-13 )

I've heard of this being done, also heard that some Falconers will use the Ferrets to scare the prey item and the falcon will swoop down and make the kill.

Awesome.:headbang2

The ferrets go in the rabbitholes, and scare out the rabbits. The rabbits flee out of the many exits. These are covered with nets. You then just snap there necks. You can also use a terier or a falcon to catch/kill them. Sometimes the ferets find a young rabbit hiding in the tunnels, then they kill it and eat it. And most often go to sleep after it, then you have to dig them out. Fun!

The ferets just love to hunt. It's where they are once been domesticated for and not for cudling.

Because of mixamathose (rabbit disease) there will not be hunted a lot this season. There are just not a lot of rabbits, so the population has to recover again.

I have some pictures but they are not digital, so can't share them.

Ummm.... how is ferreting hunting? Isn't it the ferret doing the work and not you? Wouldn't that be like going boating and sitting on the dock while your buddy takes the boat out on the lake? Or is the sport just snapping their necks? Sounds retarded to me.

it's more hunting then running around with a gun and shooting an animal you can't miss. The feret works like a dog, he chases out the game. And what is most humane way you think to put down a cought rabbit?

Haha youve never been deer hunting with a gun if you think you cant miss, youve never shot at water fowl if you think you cant miss, youve definatley never shot many gamebirds for that matter if you think you cant miss!

While I do think what you do seems very exciting and would love to do it my self (last year I had the chance to apprentice to be a falconier) your statement about shooting an animal you cant miss is far from the truth!

I didn't write the above. I'm just taking what was written and applying it. Where the F is the sport or hunt? What F'n work are YOU doing to hunt or catch your prey?
