I just got some nice red spot severums and would like to know who has successfully bred them.
I have four 4"ers and 8 more coming from COA at 1". Any chance of a fertile pair here?

Going severum crazy over here:D

I was under the impression that it was not even possible to get them to spawn? Do you have any pics of the fry? Any links to threads they started?

Thanks, Arkangel77

It's not hard to spawn them. The problem is that the eggs don't hatch, giving the false impression that the males are usually infertile. I knew this was not the case because I've bred super red males with gold females, and I did get fry.

I don't think they are on MFK so there's no thread... I've seen their fry together with some golds in the same tank, and they were obviously red.

I don't want to be secretive or anything, but I didn't figure this out and it would be wrong for me to leak it.

Well - ask them to come post about it. Lots of folks are interested in hearing about it =-)

I have a pair that spawn all the time in a community tank but the eggs get destroyed by my dempseys and fire eel. I can pull them and give it a shot. But what is the reason for the diffuculty? Are they a hybrid?

Thanks
