Anyone successfully breeding Super Red Severums?

I did some homework on them but couldn't find any credible info on how these came into the hobby. There are all kinds of guesses but (as far as I could tell) none is supported by any evidence.

This is somewhat similar to the EBJD situation, which is an interesting genetic problem - obviously the development of the zygote and later fry is controlled by the neither the genotypes of the gametes, nor the genotype of the zygote, but actually the genotypes of both parents.
