I agree, much cheaper than $50! I was thinking about removing that red cover part and placing them on the underside of the glass though and drilling a hole small enough for it to fit through (not sure if it would work). Do you think it would stick well enough to the underside of the glass without falling in. I'll probably only get one shot at it because if it falls into the water that would most likely remove the stickiness. I might have to go with two of the tripple led fixtures and run one of those jumpers for $2.99, then find a 12 volt somewhere around the house to plug into it. That's exactly what i'm thinking about doing though. If I were you I would probably mount the 8 wire jumper underneath of the tank to conseal some of the wiring, make it look neater. I'm sort've a neat freak though.

I'm not sure that I would trust the adhesive to last in such a wet environment. I guess that if it doesn't last, you could still use tape or something to hold it by the wire from the top????

As far as the wires showing on mine,,, you can't see them because of the lights in front of them. I have to get on my tip toes to see them. If they were visible, I'd have them tucked somewhere.

also if your trying t find 12 volts in your house good luck let me know who wired it if you find one

Well here are my 2, 12 volt adapters. Not too hard to find. I picked them up at a thrift store for $1. each. As far as to who wired them, I guess I'd have to try to get a hold of the company that made them???
You could also use a universal voltage adapter that many people have around the house, especially if you have a kid with hand held video games.

They plug right into the jumper & you just put the wires from the lights right into the jumper. I don't get why you would find that any more difficult than what you had described doing

By all means please post pictures and info, that's what this post is for. For all I know the quality and craftsmanship might be way better with your set up. I'm just trying to save up for a car right now so it's all about coming up with the most cost efficient method if you know what I mean.

Nope but when I was a kid I put them in my room!

i will post the pics as soon as i have the time to take them if you dont want the cooling fan or usb hub for future add ons it would cost about $30 or less depending on the quality of your dc adaptor but having the usb hub is nice i can run my fans and moon lights on it also i am getting a 12 volt temp gauge to have on the tank to see the temp

Here you go. Keep in mind that it's not as bright as the pic makes it look because of the shutter speed. For reference,, the room was very dark but yet you can see the color of the stand (in person, I could not because it was so dark in the room)

Why did you choose the 3led dome lights versus the 8led dome lights that are available. I'm looking at both and the only difference I see is that the 3led is a 100 degree angle and the 8led is a 45 degree angle but the 8led lights are roughly 33% more powerful.

Well, I went with two of the (3)led units in blue, along with the power hub adabter. I'll have to start looking around the house for a 12v power supply source. It should be here in a week or two :) Can't wait to set it up and try it out on the wolf! Thx for the help everyone!

The dome shape is different in the 8 & wouldn't lay as flat on top of the glass. I was also afraid that that they would be too bright.
I think you’ll be happy with the 3’s.
