Thanks for the support guys. I am just trying to help out others to keep this hobby strong. I don't like seeing those threads that say....Everything for sale...or...Leaving the hobby.

Thanks for that advice- I am stocking my first tank and have the same problem- I want them ALL. I finally just realized that I am young and have many years ahead to try all kinds of combo's of fish- unless I burn myself out in the beginning by biting off more than I can chew!

Glad I could help. Just take your time and make sure you are making the right decisions. :) It's a fun hobby.

Wow I had no idea. But everyone is right and you speak the truth.

In the end I can think of hundreds of cool fish to keep, thousands of combinations that would work, lots of ways to try and afford them all. Along with ways to justify "just one more tank". But when you get to a certain point it gets to be too much for most people I think. I've bought and sold numerous fish in the last year or so. Most not uber rare, some semi-rare. I now have a couple fish but go figure the one I truely like can't give up is the one I got for free. The irony.

But I honestly don't see how people like Neo, Wurm and others that keep dozens of tanks do it. They must have more energy/sanity than me. lol

Great advice Jd Man! I have just upgraded from a 30gal-90gal and have only bought a few new fish. I am really content with one 90gal. and do not plan on buying any new fish for at least 6-8 months if that. I can not imagine all the time and work it takes to keep 4-5 aquariums operating and worry free. good luck to those who do so!

Right now, I don't know why I do it. All these hours of school and work are killing me, and I can't even enjoy the tanks. Next semester I'm cutting back.

My new boss is trying to talk me into a saltwater tank. After hearing him talk about them, I kind of want one, but I think I want my money more.

JD, I thought you said downsizing, not adding harder waterchanges.

Jd... this is such great advice!! I have a few tanks myself but was thinking of setting up another one, now after reading this, i really should just be content with what i have running now and just save the time for water changes and just sit back and take that time to just watch and enjoy my tanks! Thanks JD!

I know exactly how you feel. When Pbass was the "it" thing, I got some. When Dats were the craze, I wanted them really badly. But all the fish I've had, I can always enjoy the memories of keeping them. The Pbass went to Joey, and I still have the Dats, which I enjoy very much. My problem are my impluse buys. From Convicts, to Green Terror, to a pair of Salvinis. I have 2 tanks that I downsized from 5. Even though I feel that my 75g is cramp, I'll have to make due.
