Aqua dog like cichlids?

So what are some aqua dogs other than the oscar for a 55G? I know cichlids got personalities but i want to know some just like the oscar..

for a 55 i would some convicts can be glass bangers and have personality... its kinda hard because most cichlids get 8"+ making them to big for a 55

a midas will be the largest out them. the others would be fine but only one in a 55 in my opinion.

im willing actually to get a cichlid that gets 9"-10"..it can turn around so it will be fine.. but it makes sense if it can turn it will be fine especially the snake like fish..bichirs, eels, etc.. imo but im off topic need a good aqua pet that wont get eaten by a future adult 9" catfish..

my mom would throw a temper tantrum if i had a bigger tank..

red devils, midas, green terrors, and trimacs all of these fish have stocky bodys and are not flexible all of these fish easily get 10" ang bigger

get her in to it!!!! my mom said the same thing. but when i did upgrade to a larger tank she was in awh. now when she stops by she spends most the time playin with the fish
