Aqua dog like cichlids?

I think you should go convict. Just because a fish can physically turn around in a tank doesn't mean it will be comfortable and happy. Convicts are great fish with great personality and can definitely be a glass banger. If you don't like the standard black or the pink, Rapps has some calico (marble) cons in right now.

i actually agree to that but a member told me get something that can turn around i just thought whatever on it..but it is cool i might get convicts since im planning on some firemouths..but anyways my bio teachers husband and her breed convicts so thats cool :headbang2
 
A pair of cons would do very well in a 55. A pair of salvini as well if you're looking for more color. Even a breeding pair of dempseys would work.

im doing some firemouths possible ebjd then maybe a pair of blue acaras but then i will probably do a bichir or scratch that and do a catfish a bgk..the catfish and bgk im doing regardless

Sounds very overstocked to me. A bichir would do better in a larger tank, and a BGK is definitely not an option (if it isn't killed by all the aggressive cichlids in the tank, it will outgrow the 55g).

a sen bichir is fine in a 55g and im highly likely to get a bgk
