Aquarium salt options??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I play it safe and buy aquarium salt. To save money I get a 50lb box for about 50 dollars. Forgot exact price as I haven't ran out for months. Actually running low now and I've had it for a while now with a 150gal with weekly 50% wc, 30 breeder and some side grow outs all sharing the same salt out of the 50lb box

This salt is 5.00 per 40lbs if a couple people say it's all good then it's all good.

Sayyyy whaaaat. Well ima almost out. Looks like ill be switching over lol. What kind of salt exactly is it? And where to purchase from more or less? Thanks

I've always bought the cans of 100% non-iodized sea salt from the grocery store and have never had a problem. It's a little bit more expensive than solar salt, but a lot more convienant to use and store. Once I upgrade again I'll probably start buying in bulk though just cause I'll be using a lot more.

This stuff is like the link and the pictures I posted. It's water softener salt. This is all natural sun dried not processed. So it's just plain salt. We might be a little cheaper on prices here as we have a huge salt manufacturing business here. But I threw some in my tanks and so far seem like normal aquarium salt. I'm sold. If I lose a grand or two in fish I will let you know.

Sounds good. I have a few more water changes before I'm due for my next salt purchase. Saved the pic and will hit up walmart. Let me know how it goes tho

Someone told me once water softener salt works fine too. As long as it doesn't contain iodine or whatever that bad chemical is.
